I run Windows 11 using Parallels on a Mac with an M4 processor. In Lacerte 2024 this caused an issue in printing to the Lacerte PDF print option, but caused no other issues. Lacerte could not sovle the problem for me. For 2025, not only can I not print to the Lacerte PDF printer, it also is not allowing me to send documents for eSignature - I get a pop-up stating "there is an error trying to create the PDF document". I run the PDF repair tool as prompted, but then I get an error stating "the software for Intuit Amyuni Document Converter 650 may not work correctly". I've even added a fake Lacerte PDF printer, which allows it to think it is creating a PDF, but then I get an error when I try to send the eSignature stating that "Form Federal 8879 is not applicable to this return and it will not be included in the esignature request. I've wasted hours using AI trying to solve this issue before going to Lacerte. The very nice agent tried to help me solve it, but in the end Lacerte claims it is "not their issue".
Lacerte has a very basic schedule d import. However, inexplicably, you can't import the very specific details that needs disclosure on the 8949. According to IRS instructions, stock transactions with wash sales and market discounts should be detailed in the 8949. So one would expect to be able to import the hundreds of transactions that accompany these details but for some reason Lacerte omits these data fields from being imported. It is a database. In theory, you should be able to "pick a field" to import and append the data to the table. Why not allow the user discretion over the fields to import? especially fields that would require the additional detailed disclosures required of the forms being reported on.
It would be great if Lacerte could produce a worksheet for reviewers to use to be able to see what inputs are going into lines 1a & 8a on Sch D without having to review the input screen. For all the other Sch D lines, we can review the items on Form 8949. But for lines 1a & 8a, it is harder to review these.
Social Security, unlike W-2s which usually contain errors when opening a transferred client file, needs to have a prompt if social security was received in the year prior. Clients social security paper wasn't brought to be included in the return mandating an amended return.
The IRS instructions for Form 8879s do not require that the individual or corporate office have a U.S. address and a foreign address is acceptable. The IRS is only concerned with the fact that the signature authorizing eFile is valid. ProConnect should be updated to allow for foreign addresses.
My firm uses the intuit links to collect client documents and track their progress. We rely on this heavily to keep track of current status of clients (in progress, need to review, not yet started). Please provide a way for us to download the full list of intuit links with various statuses that were sent out to all clients. There's a way to do this for tax returns filed, but not for intuit links. Please make this function available as it would be a lifesaver when we need to file extensions!
Just like FLAG ITEMS and NOTIFICATIONS — it would be useful to have an "orange box with number" indicating the number of COMMENTS that have been "STARed".This would alert our team that there are COMMENTS that need attention.
I have several clients who have 100 plus k1's due in part to ownership multiple shares of ownership in many of the partnerships that they own.In Lacerte vie the partnership module under k1 misc we could map these so that when they imported we knew they were going to the right place without having to track this all externally (Currently I have done that but it is super difficult I almost have to label them all by the order in the system by verifying the ending capital account balances then and make note in an outside excel sheet what order they are in via the import tab).I'd love if even though I may have to import them 1 by 1 at least I won't have to try and figure out the ordering to have them go to the right place. Also - second item on k1 imports - If you're exception reporting asked us where we'd like to import an item that is not directly mapped because it has variable treatment that would simplify import and verifying all data a lot. IE I have code AC interest as an other dedoction. If the system were to ask me where I want to drop it, or if I want to exclude it vs me manually going screen by screen on the regular input section that would be a lot quicker as well.
