Hello - I have a client that owned property in the UK.   It was sold in 2022.  There were capital gains in the UK.  Where do I report the gain on the clients 2022 tax return?Thanks in advance.

I've been doing tax returns for years but have never used the carry forward function in ProFile (PF). I've been using an Excel spreadsheet to track carry forwards instead of using the function in PF.  Is there a way I can consolidate all returns and implement the carry forward function? Or would I need to start from scratch?

Does anyone know what's EPOPs? When I enter rental income Profile is asking to for EPOPs allocating the immediate expensing limit?  Thanks in advance.HB

Client owns an incorporated business in Alberta and lives in British Columbia. She works remotely doing the accounting and payroll and has employees actually doing the tours (it is a tour guide company). Profile insists it is self employment. She was unable to work last year due to her pregnancy and this year due to having an infant to take care of. How do I turn whatever it is off so it stops wanting self employment information?

If I fill in the T1DD form in Profile, does this get transmitted to CRA when the return is filed, or does it have to be sent in  as a 'submitted' document.  The client does NOT have 'my account' nor is she likely to be interested in signing up for it.

The error occurs when you file the return for one person and not for the spouse. In Profile you indicate the income for the spouse for whom you are not filing that their income is $100,000 (or any amount large enough to eliminate a spousal amount claim). The program will correctly show on line 30300 a nil claim for spouse. On line 58120 (On428), the program generates a spousal amount.This occurs in multiple years of filing.

I am doing 2017-2022.  There has to be a way to copy name/address/etc from year to year.  I don't have to enter it 7 times right?? 

I have eFiled my first T2 successfully.  Now for the first T1 for a common law couple. There are no errors or warnings and the return is marked by ProFile as eligible for eFile. When saving the file I receive an error "Value cannot be null. Parameter name: source."  See attached.I click OK and when I go back into the file, the changes made are there.   When I attempt to eFile the same error appears and I cannot move forward. Any suggestions?  I have already spent over 3 hours with support getting the software and files loaded onto a new computer.  

I thought the Canada Training Credit accumulated each year, but the amount on my client's NOA from 2020 says the total is $250?  She has never used it, so I don't understand why it isn't $750 (or $1,000) depending on when it is calculated.  Can someone explain it to me please?

This morning I finished up a tax return for a client and was ready to send it to get signed through Adobe Sign. When I went to File> Signature > Connect under AbodeSign the message in red showed, "Not Connected to Intuit Online Login. Though I signed in last week and sent out several income returns through AdobeSign, no issues. When I go to the cloud icon on the right side of the toolbar on top, it shows an error message: "External Exception E0434352." The same message appears when I go to Online > Sign In. Two weeks ago I updated my Profile version to 2022.4.1 didn't have any issues up until today. I have tried re-installing Profile, and I found another article about finding the GreenPoint folder and renaming it but I haven't been able to find the folder. Thank you in advance, Tamara

My clients tax returns are not linked.  Also I was able to see the shortcuts on the top of my page and now they are not there.

Hi.  I rented out my principal residence and rent in a condo around 4 years ago (July 2019), I filed my 45(2) election in same year already.  I moved back on Feb 2023 ( 3-yr and 7m afterwards), and just sold my principal residence. So the question now is what election do I need to file to inform CRA?..so that my sales would not be considered taxable.  There is limited resources on the web on what to do in this case.

BC residence client received T4 and A Releve 1 from same company as company is based in Quebec.  What do I need to do for Releve1.  I think he should get some credits from it for paying income tax in Quebec.  Please advise.  Thanks

I modified the value on one of the lines of an attached tape. Now I cannot get the tape to total. I could clear it and start fresh but there is a fair bit of inputting involved so I would rather not. I'm hoping someone knows something I don't on how to nudge Profile to add the line up?

I carried forward a return from last year and when I went to save it it asked me to buy a license (2nd this year as I already had one and filed a return). Bought the one time license, activated it, but still asks me to buy a new one each time I try to save. Been waiting for a support callback for over an hour. Afraid to exit as I assume I'll lose the work I just did, Tried managing licenses but seems no way to apply a licenese to a return. Any way around this.  What happens if I exit profile?

My client filed his first tax return for FY 2021 in Canada as a resident. He has now left Canada and moved permanently to the USA on July 01, 2022. He maintains his principal residence in the USA and rental property as well in the US and he has no intention of being back to Canada. He files his tax return in the USA regularly. Since he was working in Canada from January to June 30, 2022, he was issued a T4 and his tax was deducted and shown under box 22 in his T4. If I prepare his Canadian tax return I shall have to show him “NON-RESIDENT” as of 12/31/2022, Under Residency (province of residence on 2022/12/31) on the info page”.But  I receive an error message (warning info) that if a taxpayer emigrated from Canada, you must select the province of residence on the date of departure. I don’t find any place in the info page profile in order to show his province of residence on the date of departure. I shall appreciate it if someone guides me to resolve this issue.Further,  Do I

I have a client who sold his property in the US. We claimed the capital gain in S3.The client received form 8828-A from his agent in the US, there was tax withheld in the US for 15% of the selling price.I entered the tax withheld as Foreign Tax Paid in the Foreign Income screen. The amount of tax withheld didn't show in the tax return as FTC.how to include the tax paid as foreign tax paid

Last year the DocuSign integration worked quite well. This year I have to re-open the software, load up a client, initiate an e-signature session and then save it and close the program before I can do another client. Very time consuming.  If I don't do that extra shut-down and restart the software won't create the next DocuSign envelope. I'm curious to know if this is happening to others or am I just lucky?

Client receives referral fee from Real Estate Agent for giving leads to him.  Where should we report his Referral Fee Income?

When filing out the T1135 Foreign Income Verification Statement using Part A: Simplified reporting method, the program will not accept $0 as the Gain(loss) from the disposition from all specified foreign property.  In the auditor there is a T1135 Error message that reads "Part A: please enter an amount in the Gain/Loss from the disposition from all specified foreign property field.  If nil enter 0."  But when I enter 0 (Zero) the line remains yellow and the error does not disappear.  Has any one else had this problem?  And how do I fix it?

Does non-resident spouse's income need to be entered on RC151?  That is a spouse who was a non-resident for the whole year.
