Lacerte Tax

This error message is generated "There must be a credit for child and dependent care expenses on Schedule 3 for efile purposes when a Form 2441 is present in the return.  This return must be filed on paper. (ref #58226)This is incorrect because if clients have Dependent Care Beneftis in Box 10 of W2 to be off-setted by the Depdenent Care Credit, there will not be a Credit shown on Schedule 3, and Schedule 3 is not needed.  Or when there is unused Box 10 amount that becomes taxable, there also will not be a Schedule 3.  Please fix the bug in the program.

Under the new rules for depreciation under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, we can now take section 179 on nonresidential real property. This includes Roofs. I entered the asset with the 39 year life and took the section 179. Lacerte is giving me a critical diagnostic: Depreciation asset #: Invalid method for section 179 expense. Do I ignore the diagnostic and file the return as is or do I change the life to a method that is valid?

How do I force form 1040 instead of 1040A?

Hi folks,I just started to print (and canceled) approximately 15 K-1's in a Pship, I selected 2-sided, expecting my K-1's to print each client separately, they do not, they print as if they are one file, i.e.  the client letter of K-1 #2 prints on the back page of K-1 #1's last page.    Fyi, I selected Print > Tax Return > K-1 Package Only > selected my print settings to 2-sided > Okay.  If you're all going to tell me I have to do 4 mouse clicks for each and every K-1 to have them print by Partner Separately 2-sided because Lacerte hasn't figured out the programming , I'm not going to be very happy.  We have a lot of Partnerships.Looking forward to replies.  Cheers

PartnershipClient paid 26000 on CA form 3804  using 3893 PTE coupon for 2021 in 2022Therefore as far as i know, the federal taxable income on the K-1 for this partnership should be 26000 less than what is should be for the 2022 tax year.  I don't see 26000 on the lacerte software and Lacerte told me to use the allocation tab to reduce the taxable income for that one partner.  Of course, my allocation is out of balance because of  the 26K.   Is the customer service person out of their mind because that makes no sense.  Tab 37 does have a spot for a  payment voucher 2022 form 3893 and estimated ax voucher form 3893 for 2023.  However this was a  2021 payment for 2022

Is Lacerte ready to process the SALT provision correctly for the State of Kansas on 1065 and 1120S returns?    I am having problems getting it to work.

Hello!I'm trying to update the Disclosure of governing docs, policies, and financial statements for Form 990, line 19. The statement I have populating on Sch. O includes language that our client provides certain documents that (we just found out) they do not. I have tried to adjust the statement on Screen 6, other information, but it seems that the pop-up is locked. Is there a cut-off for updates to these statements? I was able to make other adjustments to the return, but this one refuses to allow updates. Is there an override or something I need to to do to be able to update the statement?

A heads up to anyone with an IL partnership with pre-2021 special 100% depreciation deductions.  Lacerte22 is calculating a depreciation subtraction on the IL return in error.  You will need to override the deduction per customer service, as the software does this calculation automatically - yes, even though it's incorrect.Client had assets placed in service pre-2021 where 100% special deduction had been utilized.  Federal depreciation and IL depreciation were the same in those prior years, as IL had not decoupled from 100% special depreciation at that point.  Decoupling happened for years ending 12/31/21 and later.Looking back to 2021 returns, this error appears to not be present.  I haven't had the opportunity to check other return types. My PSA for the day...

There is no block to check to use the charitable contributions on Schedule A for people who claim the standard deduction.  When will this be fixed?

I am unable to print the e-file acceptance letters.  There is an exception error.  Is this something that is being addressed and will be fixed in a future update?

Is there any way to reset the "time spent" on a particular client?  I've been using a clients file to do some testing and exploring and now it shows a large number that I'd like to turn back to zero.

I don't see a place to enter mortgage insurance premiums in the 2022 Lacerte tax program.  Usually it's on screen 25 in the Interest section.  Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I have found the place to enter the Oregon Pass-through Entity Elective Tax (PTE) as an override on Screen 46.021 at the very bottom. But it is creating a Diagnostic Error. Is this the correct place to list the Tax Amounts paid for shareholders?

Has anyone else been getting duplicate forms 1040-V in the Government Copy when the return is printed out?I've made no changes in Options>Items To Print>Gov Copy, so it should be using the existing settings.  Yet this year I now get a 1040-V after the File Copy Separator Sheet and again as the last form in the Gov Copy, which is the position it has appeared in the past.Per the pick list in the Print Order - Government Copy box, after the File Copy Separator Sheet there should be Client Letter.  But this year I'm now getting a 1040-V when there's one present in the return.Anybody else seen this?

Has the Gift Tax module been released yet, and if not, when will it be released?

I am getting a critical diagnostic that a return cannot be efiled because there is a Form 2441 present but no Child and Dependent Credit on Sch 3.  There will be no credit because there are dependent care benefits in Box 10 of the W2 and the 2441 was generated so the benefits will not be taxable. The page 2 of the form 2441 is necessary.  Does the return really need to be mailed as the diagnostics say?  This has not happened in the past.

I had the pleasure of having Brittney patiently work on fixing an issue where my client files would not appear.  The situation was unique where I moved from an office server to a home situation.  The original rep did not understand the situation, but Brittney did, and I am glad she was able to help. Even though it took a while, the solution happened and it turned out great.
