C-corp is a participant of CA ETF program.  It owed 2025 CA taxes.  Taxpayer wants to have 2025 CA taxes due and all 2026 CA estimated taxes to be directly withdrawn from its bank account.  But we got e-file critical warming of "electronic payment of balance due is not allowed for participants of CA ETF program", need to "verify which payment method should be used".Does anyone know how to solve this e-file issue?Thanks.

When I entered a long-term covered transaction that had both a wash sale adjustment and an accrued market discount adjustments, the Schedule D would not foot correctly and is dropping the wash sale adjustment from the total at the bottom of Schedule D, page 1, Line 15.   

Lacerte seems to be saying that we are unable to e file Texas partnership franchise tax returns, even though the Texas Comptroller's office website that efile is up and running. Does anyone have any info as to why Lacerte client's cannot file these returns yet with the State of Texas.

I e-filed a clients return on March 8th, 2026. He owed a balance due for Federal and CA, however the payment has still not been withdrawn from the client's personal account as of 03/30/2026. Does it usually take this long for the IRS and FTB to process electronic payments through Lacerte?

How do I resolve this problem??

Form 1040 is taking a loss on Sch C for OIH.  I can't find anyway that this should be happening.  Can you help me how to correct this?

I spent nearly an hour on the phone with tech support to try and resolve an issue where the Lacerte program does not properly calculate the NJ property tax deduction for multi family properties when the taxpayer is also a resident and  the taxes are entered as an indirect expense on screen 18 (the amounts are correct on the federal sch A).This is extremely disappointing for such a basic calculation given the cost of the software.  It also leaves me with the embarassment of explaining this to my client and needing to file amended returns for prior years.

i was importing 3 schedule D after 1 was done it asked for another and froze pulling  #2 beforeI cant close Lacerate 2025 now in the cloud 

Texas client sold soybeans gifted to him over a year ago by parents who farm in Ohio.  He wanted to play the market so his parents stored the beans for him.  He sells the beans (stored > 1 yr).  Trying to determine if this ordinary or long term capital gain.  He is not a farmer.Thoughts?      

My client is a single individual, age 85. She gave $21,000 to her son in 2025. Her taxable estate will likely have a value of $1,000,000 to $3,000,000. She is required to file a gift tax return. I don't think that a $3,000 reduction in the credit is high enough for me to bother her. She won't understand it. She is frail and she is depressed due to the passing of her husband. But the failure to file exposes me to the risk of liabilities from Circular 230.I could prepare it and tell her to sign it, knowing that she can't understand it. Or I could likely meet my obligation by telling her: "Filing this return might lower your future estate tax" which I know would confuse her.

Does anyone know how to enter Accrued Market Discount on a stock sale for a resident of PA. The federal return treats it as interest income, and is added to cost basis on sch D. PA does not show it on there sch B for interest income, but it also is reducing the capital gain on there sch D, but does not appear to be actually increasing the basis. It appears to be a glitch and I cannot figure out an overide.

I have a client who lives in California but sold a timeshare in Hawaii and had witholding for Hawaii on the closing statement does anyone know what form and where I can enter in Lacerte. Thank you 

In attempting to prepare a superseded tax return for a client, I am getting a diagnostic saying that the change to the deduction for seniors cannot be a negative number. In the previously filed return, my client got the full $6,000 deduction for both the Taxpayer and Spouse. By virtue of amending the return, my client's AGI increased by $24,030 and that in turn caused the senior deduction to be reduced from $12,000 to $11,424 which is a difference of $576 and that is obviously a reduction. But I am getting the following critical diagnostic and can't seem to figure out how to fix it:Form 1040-X: The Net Change for the following item cannot be negative for e-file purposes: Deductions for tips, OT, car loan interest and senior from Schedule 1-A Form 1040.Does anyone know how to clear this diagnostic?Thanks in advance for your helpJerry F.

Has anyone experienced any issues printing certain personal tax returns? I get an error on some saying the input data block is not complete. Doesn't happen on all returns, only some but I haven't figured out the common issue with them yet.

Hi, all,When printing a tax return, I am accustomed to seeing three boxes checked... preparer copy, client copy, and government copy. For 2025, only preparer review copy is checked. I can uncheck it and check the other three every time I print a return, but I can't find the global setting to tell Lacerte to check only those three by default. Can someone show me where that setting is? I can't find it in Settings, Options, Items to print, other than checking and unchecking all the boxes for the various categories, which I have never done before and does seem like it would do what I want anyway.Thanks,Michael

Taxpayer installed new electrical panel that is in excess of 200 watts and qualifies for credit up to $600.  However, I can not see in the energy credit screen 38.2 where to enter this.  Any idea?  Thanks in advance!

 Emails are fine BUT make sure to print or retain that email in permanent storage.  "Email is not your client file."

I am preparing Federal and MD state individual income tax returns for 2025 for a non resident of MD that sold real estate located in MD in year 2025.The MD property purchase was replacement property, in a like kind exchange, upon sale of property located in WA state, in year 2021.  Taxpayer has always been a Washington state resident, thus the 2021 sale did not result in gain in MD.As there was no MD gain, and, consequently no deferred MD gain, do I simply enter basis on line for "Cost or other basis" for 2025 Federal tax return, and (different) basis where called for in the "State, if different" section on lacerte screen 17.1?Thanks for any and all help!      

It seems as though every time there's an update to Lacerte my display settings change to something extremely random. It's time consuming to have to go into each entity and change it back to what I want it to be, and I don't have extra time to do this every single time. Anybody know how to lock this, so it doesn't keep happening? Or maybe Lacerte could get on top of this and fix it ASAP?!?My patience is running very thin with this and I'm hoping there's an easy fix before we get super busy.

My client is a trust holding a 1/3 interest in a Partnership (activity is rent of land used for hunting). The trust sold its interest on March 1, 2025.  The CPA for the partnership, had been doing their taxes for 15 years, refuses to issue a K-1 for the two months of 2025. I have K-1s for 2023 and 2024. I can't reconstruct outside basis and I don't want to do it now. So, I'll extend the tax return.  Is the gain on sale my job or the partnership CPA?  Should I use the tax capital account as a proxy for outside basis?  I don't know if there are unrealized receivables.  What is your thought? Shoot holes in my thinking.
