As the deadline approaches, you may experience longer wait times to receive an Accepted or Rejected status for e-filed returns. Although the IRS and many states may process e-file submissions faster at other times of the year, it's normal for IRS acknowledgements to take one to three days, and for state returns to take two to five days. Returns that don't get acknowledged within that timeframe are considered delayed, and you can find a list of current delays we're working with the tax agency to resolve in this article. To check for new acknowledgements You can check for status updates by going to your E-file Dashboard in ProConnect. Additionally, you can force the program to retrieve the latest e-file status for a particular return by: Open the tax return. Go to the File Return tab. The latest e-file status is always displayed here.

Q1. When will the forms be ready to file? As you know, there are two different filing types; paper and e-file. Therefore, there are two different processes and availability dates. In order to provide the most current information to help you determine whether or not you're ready to file we provide resources updated daily: ProConnect Form Status Tool  2021 ProConnect e-file agency approval and start dates Q2. Why are the dates different for print and e-file forms? It seems as though e-file is much faster than print forms? When the new tax season kicks off, the IRS and State Agencies provide an updated e-file handbook in addition to any new business rules and updated schema formatting. This allows our developers to update the way the data entered in the program is translated to XML for E-file. Our development team is then able to test the transmission of the data to verify it meets the e-file schema requirements. This is also why it's important to keep your program up-to-date,

The IRS has indicated recipients of the Advanced Child Tax Credit (ACTC) will need to compare the amount of payments received during 2021 with the amount of CTC claimed on their 2021 return. If the amounts do not match what the IRS has on record, this could result in a delay of refund. For more information, including a link to the IRS CTC portal, please visit; IRS Updates and FAQs for 2021 CTC and ACTC Payments (https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-updates-faqs-for-2021-child-tax-credit-and-advance-child-tax-credit...).

Business e-filing resumed for prior year What can be e-filed currently? Tax year 2019 business returns. Tax year 2020 business returns. Tax year 2021 business returns. What can't be e-filed currently? Individual returns for any year.   Most states may be accepting prior year business e-file returns but be aware there may be delays in processing. Beginning in January 2022, the IRS is upgrading the recommendation for login security standards for protecting taxpayer information. 2-Factor Authentication (2-FA), also known as two-step verification, will now be the recommended default software login standard for greater login security.  With current IRS security requirements your tax software login timeout occurs after 30 minutes of inactivity, however the IRS is extending this to 12 hours starting in January. This change is due to the expectation that Tax Pros will have adopted two step verification to make their software login more secure.Tax Pros are increasingly the target of sophisticated remote-access data breaches from internet-based hackers. Securing taxpayer data has never been more important. Utilizing 2-Factor Authentication's increased level of security will help prevent this from occurring since the remote hacker will never have access to your secondary authentication device. It is important that all users in your f
