When restoring client files, it would be nice to have a progress bar rather than a spinning circle.Also, please fix it so we don't have to go manually add states and then run the whole restore again.  Maybe add the ability to add states in the restore window?  Or make a list of files that didn't restore and states that need added?  Something to make these calls less painful

Your diagnostics do not allow me to e-file a 1040X unless the original was e-filed and accepted.What do you do when the original was e-filed and accepted but was prepared by another preparer?New York State accepts e-filed New York State amended returns even if another preparer e-filed the original.I do not understand why there is a diagnostic preventing me from e-filing an amended return if it was  e-filed and accepted by IRS.I cannot find anything on the IRS website that says a 1040X must be prepared by the original preparer of the 1040 in order to be eligible to be e-filed.Please advise.Thank you

Customized Common Forms ListDiscussion ongoing

ProSeries used to have this option, unknown why it was replaced with their own selections.  We used to have the capability of customizing our own selection of  commonly-used forms and worksheets. Streamlined it to cover a good number of my basic clients; faster access, more productive.Maybe a tax pro wants a direct one-click to Keogh/SEP/etc worksheet, IRA contributions; student loan interest; maybe you don't need K1s in your common list or want Sch F in there.  Maybe you'd like to have the tax planner within quick access.Allow us to determine what forms we commonly use.  😁

ProSeries requires updates before allowing e-file conversion, but there are no updates to apply. When trying to convert efiles to transmit ProSeries will not create the efiles because it says ProSeries is not currently the most current version. This requires the transmitter to exit ProSeries and check for updates. No updates are found and the transmitter loads ProSeries and is now able to covert and transmit efiles even though ProSeries is at the same version as it was when the error message originally appeared.

 RE: Case:550763585 1095-a [ ref:_00Di0Xs0j._5003j1k8v4l:ref ]The Tax Planner Summary (2020) -- Adjustments to IncomeSelf-employed Health Ins.Allowable SE Hlth Ins Dedn ----- needs to include the amount of  Premium Tax Credit Repayment(calculated and shown inTax Planner Summary (2020) -- Taxes and CreditsOther TaxesPremium Tax Credit Repayment) in the total for Allowable SE Hlth Ins Dedn.The source of the Premium Tax Credit or Repayment are the inputs into:Tax Planner Summary (2020) – Taxes and CreditsPremium Tax Credit or Repayment Smart Worksheet of which Line C Household income for premium tax credit is automatically calculated by the Tax Planner. When the line Allowable SE Hlth Ins Dedn fails to include the premium tax repayment (as it should), then SSA taxable is overstated, adjustments for SE health ins in AGI is understated, and taxes owed are significantly overstated.For me to overcome this error (because Taxpayer:  Health ins prem paid (an input) should be for premiums actually paid and the Premium Tax Credit Repayment is not paid until the tax return is actually filed), I had to manually include both premiums paid and the Premium Tax Credit Repayment (calculated in the Tax Planner software) in Health ins prem paid to get Allowable SE Hlth Ins Dedn to be the correct amount (it is just adding down the actual premiums paid).Therefore, please fix this error in the software.

Some states like PA, you go to the information worksheet to activate the amended return.  Do this for all states so there is consistency on how to activate the amended returns.  This would make it quicker and easier to get started with the amended return.

I have found that the financial data file conversion left a lot to be desired.  If any of your clients have significant number of trades throughout the year it may be easier to upload the data if ProSeries Professional will allow us to input the file as an Excel spreadsheet.

I'm from WV. The IT140 state tax return does not have a direct connection to WV2848.I have, on numerous occasions requested the form be put in the state return menu and list of forms.Is this possible for 2021?I would think many practitioners throughout the U.S. would find having the state POA available, a boon to our practices, and a time saver.The Federal 2848 does not in all states grant POA to the state returns.The POA state forms are in the corporate return menu's but not in the individual non-business returns.

Please provide extension payment confirmation to the Efile center. Amounts and date debited. Currently there is no extension payment confirmation. Just confirmation the extension was accepted. Please add this.Also add, Form 9325 to all returns, not just 1040s. You can add the payment confirmation (extension and tax payments) to this form as well.

Functionality to quickly determine tax savings from IRA contributionsDiscussion ongoing

It would save a great deal of time if Proseries had the functionality to quickly/easily determine the max IRA/Roth/SEP contributions a taxpayer could make AND show the corresponding tax savings (fed and states) at various contribution levels.  I'm sure the current manual process using worksheets could be automated which would provide a time savings for preparers and a monetary savings for happy taxpayers.My clients love when I can tell them a $X IRA contribution will save you $Y in taxes this year.  Calculating the $Y takes a few minutes going back and forth between the returns and jotting down the savings somewhere like in the comments field.
