It is tedious to print as pdf and attach to the resident state when they require the other state tax return to be attached for tax credits.  This should be done by Lacerte automatically, just like it sends the federal return to some states that require it.

I currently have to print the first 5 pages to PDF and manually attach them back onto the software to e-file state returns. This seems like a silly and easy thing to fix. Thank you!

Allow e-filing for Maryland returns with late payment penaltiesDiscussion ongoing

When I try to submit an extended MD return that has a balance due, Lacerte gives a Critical Diagnostic Warning that MD does not allow Late Payment Penalties with an e-filed return - ref #3410.  This is not correct.  I have personally spoken to a representative from MD and was told that MD does accept e-filed returns that include late payment penalties.  Additionally, I previously used Drake tax software and was able/allowed to e-file a MD return that included late payment penalties. This is not a new issue.  I previously used Lacerte for 19 years (before trying Drake) and had the same diagnostics. Lacerte, please correct this issue.  I don't like have my clients paper file their MD returns when they should be able to e-file or have them receive MD penalties due notices.  Don't let Drake be better at filing than Lacerte. Lacerte gives a diagnostic error when an individual MD return includes late payment penalties. Lacerte will not allow the return to be e-filed with the penalties included nor e-pay the balance with the penalties.  I was told by a Lacerte representative that MD did not permit e-filing with the penalty.  THIS IS NOT CORRECT.  According to the MD Comptroller's office, e-filing with the penalties is permitted.  Additionally, other tax software (Drake) does allow e-filing with penalties calculated and included with e-pay.I cannot believe that a program like Lacerte will allow Drake to better it.Come on Lacerte (Intuit), get with the 21st Century.

Is there a way to generate a statement for what deductions are included in "Other" deductions line 30 on Form 8825 Schedule A? There should be some sort of description for what deductions are included on this line. A statement is generated for other deductions reported on Form 8825 line 17 for entities that file Form 8825 and are not required to complete Schedule A (because they do not file Form M-3); however, there should be a similar statement for Schedule A line 30 for Form M-3 filers that are required to complete Schedule A.

UPE (unreimbursed partnership expenses) In Lacerte are not adjustment the QBI for the QBID calculation even though it is linked to that partnership.  Manual entry is required to QBI on the passthrough of partnership screen for 199A QBI.  There needs to be a link for this adjustment

We have 3 1040 clients who receive income from two trusts that each have over 200 RPEs for QBI. We have to enter them all by hand, and that's after we've already aggregated all the Non-SSTBs with ordinary losses. It takes a couple of hours per trust, and it's a really cumbersome task. If LaCerte could import that data from excel the way you can with Schedule D data, it would be a huge time saver!

Mine is more of a request more so than a question, although it’s going to contain a question. I think I have mentioned this before but have never gotten a clear answer on it, but why can we not have the option to choose between a certain time frame when printing reports, rather than a month to month, year to year, etc. basis? Why can the program not be more like QuickBooks in certain aspects? I.E. I have a client who is needing payroll from Aug 19th, 2025 to July 19th, 2026. Do you think our program will let us do that? NO! Why not? Because we have a program that does the basics pretty well, but beyond that who knows. Is there any way we might could get this implemented by 2027 or am I asking too much out of the software? I know there’s things that are more important right now but this would make our jobs alot easier when sending reports for audits & for renewals of insurance. Please at least consider this.

It would be very helpful if we could format the information we input in the Partner K-1 Supplemental Information so it is useable. Right now there is no efficient way to attach K-1 statements to the K-1s. We need the ability to type in or copy in multiple footnotes and have spaces inbetween the different footnotes so it is readable. The formatting available in this post input would be sufficient.

First, this form is only available under individuals, even though it may need to be completed by a corporation or partnership. But using the individual form and just overriding the name and EIN will work but when selecting the Partnership or Corporate check box, all the calculations are removed and you have to do more overrides.

To Whom It May Concern: In the select states and/or cities to print, all the returns are automatically checked.  Therefore, can the "Check All" box be replaced with "Uncheck All" box instead or add "Uncheck All"?  It is very time consuming to uncheck each and every one of the state's boxes to print one return at a time.Thank you!

Please remove the photo of the women staring at me when I open the software.  It is particularly disconcerting that someone I do not know is looking at me with a creepy smile.  Maybe if she was looking at someone in the photo, it would be fine.  Basically, she violates my space by starring at me.  Also, many of my employees have the same discomfort.

In the Client section, can we have a space to add both taxpayer’s names. Many times, the two married people have different last names. Currently the Last Name field does not allow enough text spaces to add another name or a long name. It would be good if there was a separate place for both taxpayers first and last name. It would also be very helpful if the Client Excel download included both taxpayer names.

Is anyone else having this problem?   Because the text does not wrap, the font just gets smaller and smaller to the point it is not readable.  For Forms 706, the description is at times very long. Does anyone have a work around?

It’s frustrating that Lacerte still can’t e-file Oregon CAT returns after so many years. Intuit seems to be extremely behind in getting specific state/local returns configured for e-filing compared to all other tax software providers.Does anyone know if this is in the works or how we can put the pressure on Intuit to get this done?!
