Phila BIRT and NPT for 1120 & 1065New

Why isn't the Philadelphia Business Income & Receipts Tax  and Net profits Tax available for Business tax returns?  Its in the name.  It's nice that they are available in the 1040 module, but they should also be available in the 1120/S and 1065 modules.

On several forms we have to include the social security number of the person along with the name.  Presently if you hit the drop down box all you get are options such as "applied for" or ITIN etc.Form affected would be like the 8863, 2441 etc.When we need a name and social security number of a taxpayer or dependent, why can we not have a drop down box with that dependents name and social security numbers.  This is available in other Intuit tax products.I have to leave the form and go to the client or dependent information and copy and paste the social security number into the appropriate area.  If you can do this in TurboTax, you certainly can do this in a professional program.  Thanks for the consideration.

It seems to me that a login/authentication process could be made so that it is not necessary to continue logging in each time you open or close a program.  If I have logged in and authenticated, it feels like that ought to be able to be catalogued at a minimum by user or mac address so that subsequent programs used do not need another login plus authentication.  It is a frustrating waste of time, especially because frequent updates mean having to do this regularly, in addition to needing to do it in the midst of opening different years.

Please advise if there is any way that the firm and/or preparer could receive either an email and/or text notification in the event any return has been rejected by any taxing authority that a return has been e-filed.This notification ask is at the highest level and would not necessarily contain client specific datapoints but rather just a notification to the firm and/or preparer that a rejection has occurred (i.e. warning message that provides and alert(s) for a firm and/or preparer to log on to investigate and handle accordingly.)This may prove very helpful to the Lacerte community especially those that are not using the software on a daily basis.

I am writing to ask why Lacerte does not support Form 8978. To my understanding, there is not even a place to override the additional tax (if applicable) or any other related adjustment. For example, if the taxpayer owes additional tax because of a Form 8986 adjustment, the additional tax would be reported on Form 1040, Schedule 2, Line 17z. It would be nice to have the override option; that way, if Form 8978 remains unsupported by Lacerte, the form can at least be filled out and attached to the e-filed return. Right now, it is my understanding when Form 8978 is required, the taxpayer must paper-file their Federal return.Form 8978 will be a form that will be required in tax year 2023 - one big reason is the ERC (Employee Retention Credit) and the need for S-Corp's and Partnerships to amend previous years returns and partner/shareholder K-1's. I certainly hope Lacerte can support Form 8978 for the 2023 Federal Return - or at least provide input space in "Other Taxes"  to override the additonal calculated tax or other adjustments related to Form 8978. Other major tax software support Form 8978.  I hope Lacerte will too.Thank you!

It's been several days sine Yasmine said someone would contact me from Intuit about the software's failure to accurately post billing rates, etc. to client invoices ...  She too, said she'd follow up with me and I haven't heard from her either...  So here's my question - why is it these commitments are "promised" and then never adhered to for one, and then in addition to this, how is it there is no check system in place from the "higher-ups" to insure these commitmments are being adhered to...   Just me wondering if this is what it's like when the buyer/seller pyramid gets flipped around...  Customer service seems to have taken a 180 since COVID and that disturbs me very, very much...  Thank you...

Why is ProSeries still not able to electronically file Ohio Business Income Returns (Forms IT 4738, IT 4708 or IT 1140) and RITA (Regional Income Tax Agency) Local filings while Lacerte and other Intuit products will?  Intuit always seems to put Proseries as last to get returns to be able to be electronically filed.  I've contact Proseries, but could use help by other Ohio CPAs using Proseries to help push them to move in this direction.

Hello,I was on the phone yesterday with customer service for a great deal of time trying to figure out how to mask important information. While I was able to accomplish part of my goal (masking SSN's on the organizer), I was surprised to find that I'm unable to mask my firm's EIN number and my preparers PTIN on my clients copy of their tax return. While I understand It is necessary on the government copy, I feel it lends to an unnecessary risk of those numbers being used to file fraudulent returns. Many experts in my field recommend this and I feel it is an easy way to protect against fraud. The fact that your "Top of the Line" program (Lacerte) does not do this will have me strongly looking at other software that does because the risk is just to great.

Lacerte should show the Client's and their dependents' ages on the input screens (based on dates of birth) so you can easily see the ages for that tax year without having to calculate them.This is needed when a dependent is 16 so you can tell the clients they will lose $1,500 of their $2,000 child tax credit the year the dependent turns 17.
