Automatic Login

I just went to log into my pro series tax product. Instead of using my id and screename they automatically log you in by your email address.

I think this is a stupid way of logging in, as your email address could be on the dark web and this leaves you vunerable to someone getting into your tax files.

I did not authorize Intuit to allow my account sign in to use my email address. What a bunch of fools over at Intuit.

I called them and complained and they have to send my concern over to another department to escalate.

Any one else have this concern

A new feature in the 2025 version of ProSeries is the ability to open other years program without having to log in, once youve logged into 2025, other years will open with no log in.

So theyre not logging you in with your Email (I know it says that!), what youre seeing is the email associated with your account, its the logging into 2025 that made the other year open.

I honestly dont remember this being complained about or asked for, but I guess it can be kind of handy.

Please re read my post. My pro series tax returns are automatically opened by just clicking on the desktop app.

I DO NOT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN. SUPPOSE YOUR EMAIL HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS BEING ON THE DARK WEB. I DO NOT WANT SOMEONE OTHER THAN MYSELF LOOKING AT MY CLIENTS AND GETTING AHOLD OF THERE SS NUMBERS.

I want to open my app the way it was, by using my log in name and user ID

I called Intuit and told them about this problem. I never gave Intuit my permission to change the way I access my clients

Are you saying you turned on your computer this morning, and clicked on the ProSeries 2025 icon and it opened without you logging in with your UserID and password?

Or did you already have 2025 open and you clicked on a prior year version of ProSeries and it opened automatically with no UserID and password?

Was your issued resolved, i am having the same issue, Lacerte is automatically logging me in without asking for a username and a password. I heard this has something to do with the log in features from lacerte.

Hi @Just-Lisa-Now-  Thanks for tagging me and helping out the Community.  Hi @davidsteve Both ProSeries and Lacerte have the new SSO Feature.   Here is a knowledge base you can review that explains this new feature. There is another one for ProSeries It may or may not assist in this situation.  You can connect with Lacerte support as they are best equipped to assist in this situation, as it is a feature you have to call in to turn off.

Regarding the new SSO feature:

A new sign in experience started in Lacerte 2024. This lets you access the most recent three years of Lacerte without additional logins.  Sign in once and have instant access to the current and two prior years.

This feature is now available in tax years 2025, 2024 and 2023

Common questions:

  • How to turn it on?
    • No need; this is on automatically once all three years are up to date.
  • Can it be turned off?
    • Yes, though you will need to call and request that this feature be turned off for you. After the fact, it's important to note that this feature can only be enabled/disabled at the firm level. So if a change is made, it will impact all users.

We understand about the single log in to multiple years. Our issue is, when we turn on our computer, and open Lacerte, it will automatically logged in you in, without asking username and password.
