Question

Represent a client

Can I submit Represent a Client without doing a tax return?  I have a client that wants the last 5 years of returns done.  The normal way is, he has to have a CRA account, if he doesn't, he needs the last Notice of Assessment or tax return processed within at least prior 6 months to create My Account.  That isn't going to happen is it..

I need to tap into his My Account so I can get all his T4's and other forms for the last 5 years because I doubt he actually has all in his possession.  Is it possible to use Efile to benefit me rather than having the client say it's too much work for him to create My Account?   I don't have any other options do I?

Yes---What I usually do is create the client for the first year you think they need to file (2017) then carry forward their info to 2021 and do the represent a client as it has to be signed and filled this year. Then can do the Auto fill for 2021 and it will give you his info and confirm what years are missing and then can go back and do those--the ONLY thing to watch is if any "carry forward" amounts as they should be used in the first year you need to do

Hope this helps
