Does non-resident spouse's income need to be entered on RC151?  That is a spouse who was a non-resident for the whole year.

Because the spouse is non-resident, the application will be only for the Canadian resident.  So I don't think the spouse's income information would be required.  However, one needs to ensure that the application is clear that the GST/HST and climate action programs are for the Canadian resident only, with no payment on behalf of the non-resident spouse.

Where one WOULD need the spouse's income is on the T1 if the Canadian resident wishes to claim the non-resident spouse as a dependent.  If the Canadian resident is truly supporting a dependent spouse back "home", then he/she is entitled to claim the spouse/common-law partner amount.  However, if the spouse has some income apart from the support being received by the Canadian resident, that has to be put on the Schedule 5 as the same rules apply when claiming line 30300 for a non-resident spouse as a resident spouse.

Hope this helps.
