Just this last week, we have had at least 6 clients who had their return in proseries completed and then one or two days later the client file has vanished from the proseries database. Has anyone experienced this phenomenon?  It happened out of nowhere this week.  The clients were not deleted.  Homebase maintenance has been done.  The directories for saving files are correct and have not changed.  We have the filing copy pdf in the ty2025 folder, so we know it was done and we printed the return but when going to efile them one or two days later, the client has disappeared from the database.

Lacerte generates a worksheet, but not form 8829.  Activity is a partnership from which client receives  nonpassive guaranteed payments for services provided.  K-1 activity is marked as nonpassive.

Please show me input details to have Schedule R-2 Lines 5a and 5b to show "no" to the questions

Hellohow do i generate a billing report in proseries

The list of forms needed for printing does not pop up. Instead I have to fish out all the forms one by one. This is super annoying.

So I get an updated link from Kathi and the link worked.  I sent myself my personal K1 and it was sent.  Except when I tried to open the secure link I get a 400 Error.  I would respond to Kathi herself but the message seems locked, says I don’t have the authority to respond.  Also can’t find my original post on their error.Sounds good in theory but obviously they haven’t beta tested it yet and are counting on us to find their technical issues.

I followed the intuit directions, but efile status will not update on new computer.  Spent 2 hours on phone with support, just walked me through what was already done.Install ProSeries on your new computer, starting with the oldest tax year first. [1] On the old computer: Open ProSeries and go to your Homebase. Highlight all client files (change Homebase view to All Files if needed). Go to File > Client File Maintenance > Copy/Backup and save the files to a flash drive. Using Windows File Explorer, copy the HOMEBASE and COMMON folders from your ProSeries directory to the flash drive to preserve settings and letter templates. [1, 2, 3, 4] On the new computer: Open ProSeries and go to File > Client File Maintenance > Restore, pointing to the flash drive to restore your client files. Copy the HOMEBASE and COMMON folders from your flash drive into the respective ProSeries installation folder on your new computer's C: drive (replacing existing files if prompted). Run Hom

The correct first name has two names, no hyphen, no middle initial.  On the federal form it prints correctly.  On the state forms it prints the second name as the middle.  For example not using the actual name:Marry Anne Jones with Marry Anne as the first name.State forms will print as Marry A showing A in the middle initial box.   How to fix with keeping a space in the first name?

Hi,I have an Individual return with a 2021 and 2022 NOL carryover to 2025  and Lacerte calculation for the NOL deduction and carryover is incorrect . I manually enter 80% X 2025 taxable income before the NOL in screen 15. The amount I enter appears correctly on Schedule 1 and Form 172, but the amounts on the Federal statement and on the NOL Worksheet are incorrect. It shows  the wrong amounts of NOL absorbed and NOL carryover. So in screen 15 the data fields,  I write a note to be printed with the return. At least my clients and myself will have record of it, plus the spreadsheet on file to support it all. I have contacted Lacerte support but no solution so far.Has anyone got lucky getting help with this?

We have a handful of clients who have MD K-1s that report an addition or subtraction but who wind up with a change to the addition or subtraction on the 500DM. When we enter the addition or subtraction from the K-1 (on the Activity WKS) it goes to the 500DM  Part C line 9.  ProSeries is generating something on line 8 of Part C that results in an additional addition or subtraction.  I can’t figure out how ProSeries is calculating the number on line 8--there’s no cross reference.  I’ve read the form instructions and that isn’t helpful either--basically that it’s from MD decoupling from various federal laws.  Can anyone tell me how ProSeries is calculating this?

Client on extension - calls me last week ready to submit all his paperwork to compete his return. (we have been reminding all clients once a month since May to get me their paperwork) Has been filing a sch c LLC for several years. Tells me he submitted paperwork to become and s-corp starting 1/1/25 but never received any notices.  He also worked with a company call Opolis to do payroll and be able to get health insurance. (No, he didn’t discuss this before doing it even though we all know we tell them to). So, I tell him we need to get the answer to if he is an s-corp or LLC. He sends email that he got through to irs and he filled out paperwork incorrectly and he is still a disregarded entity.  (he does his own books as well) So here we are on 10/12/26 and I have a w2 for him which is incorrect for the LLC. And a P&L for 2025. NOW WHAT? How do I fix? (he did not take any payroll yet for 2026 so I told him not to)Input the w2, reclass the payroll expense to owners draw and just expe

Why would efile be rejected due to estimates in the What If worksheet.  Just more Proseries stupidity.

New York Non Resident Income Input. Non resident client has wage income allocated at 54% based on days worked in NY but has bonus income to be allocated at 92% based on when bonus was earned. Can anyone help with where to input two different wage allocations?

I am doing an amended return year 2025, federal is ok since the own money it will be EFW and it show the amount, but NOT on the CA State why not? I have Proseries Basic.

Why are tabs not appearing, such as Input, Check Return, and File Return? Then, on Schedule C, the income and expense screen is not showing up.  Didn’t have this problem before. Sometimes, if I reload the whole page, the main tabs appear at the top as normal. But I’ve never had to do that before. Now, the Schedule C Income Statement Tab is not appearing to input income and expenses.

All of a sudden, the due date is now 10/25/26 to make a federal payment that is on extension and due 10/15/26???

Tax return was rejected because a dependent was claimed as a dependent on another return.  Client has 4 kids.  Instructions say there will be a number in brackets for the dependent causing the rejection.  Here is the exact rejection:Form: 0(00)Field: *****2846(/efile:Return/efile:ReturnData/efile:IRS1040[1]/efile:DependentDetail[2]/efile:DependentSSN)Occurrence: 00000(0001) Which bracketed number is the cause of the rejection? Thanks!

How to Clear this diagnostic

I'm looking for guidance on the federal tax treatment of an S-corporation that ceased operations before its formal dissolution. Background: An Illinois S-corporation stopped operating in late 2023. The corporation was formally dissolved in Illinois in 2025. The shareholder was a full-year Indiana resident. The shareholder's 2023 Form 7203 showed approximately $2,759 of remaining stock basis, after accounting for the 2023 operating loss. The shareholder is preparing amended personal income tax returns for 2023–2025 because previously filed returns omitted certain S-corporation K-1 information. My questions: Can the remaining $2,759 of shareholder stock basis potentially become a deductible loss when the corporation closes? Could this qualify as a Section 1244 ordinary stock loss, assuming the original stock issuance and other statutory requirements were satisfied? Or would it ordinarily be a capital loss? Which tax year would be appropriate—2023, when operations ceased, or 20

Do you need to provide addresses of board members for a Form 990-ez filing

Client received RMDs from a Traditional IRA that should go on Maryland Worksheet 13A ‘Pension Exclusion Computation Worksheet.’  This is a Rollover IRA that qualifies, since every dollar came entirely from a 401(K). The Rollover IRA Exception:Starting in tax year 2022, Maryland passed a bill (Senate Bill 123) that allows a Rollover IRA to qualify for the pension exclusion, but only under a zero-tolerance condition: [1] The 100% Rule: Every single dollar in that Rollover IRA must have come entirely from an eligible "employee retirement system" (such as a 401(k), 403(b), or defined-benefit pension plan). [1] However, there is no place in Lacerte to tell it that this is a Rollover IRA that qualifies. If I unclick the IRA box in the 1099-R input screen, that triggers the Maryland Worksheet 13A but then the IRS Form 8606 disappears, so this is not a solution. What is the solution?

Tax client is on an approved extensionTax client owns an which provided the 2025 W-2 Post April 15th the LLC owner has determined hat the W-2 salary is incorrect  and understated by $8,75.0.00 . This will increase his payroll taxes.  The LLC can make the required tax deposits electronically.I plan to attach the soft copy with the 1040  I doubt that the SSA and will have updated their files by 10/15/26.    Should the tax client file the  1040 electronically in October (allows time to process the W-2c) ?Should the client paper-file or e-file?Have I missed anything?Note: This situation arose after terminating the payroll processing firm.

Rev. Proc. 2013-30 facilitates the grant of relief to late-filing entities by consolidating numerous other revenue procedures into one revenue procedure and extending relief in certain circumstances. This procedure provides guidance for relief for late:S corporation elections, Electing Small Business Trust (ESBT) elections, Qualified Subchapter S Trust (QSST) elections, Qualified Subchapter S Subsidiary (QSub) elections, and Corporate classification elections which the entity intended to take effect on the same date that the S corporation election would take effect.Generally, the relief under the revenue procedure can be granted when the entity fails to qualify solely because it failed to file the appropriate election under Subchapter S timely with the applicable IRS Campus and all returns reported income consistently as if the election was in effect. For purposes of this guidance, the “effective date” is the date the election is intended to be effective and cannot be more than 3 years
