I went to open my 2024 Fixed Asset Manager and it would not load the Client because it said c:\famwin24\clients\303___R.F40(File is not a Data File).
First time I have run into this problem and a user for over 10 years. Not sure how to fix this issue.
Any guidance appreciated.
Earl
Hi @EarlRob Here is a help article that might help with your situation: Resolving the FAM errors File is Not A Data File. If you try the troubleshooting steps and they work, let us know. If you try them and you're still running into issues, please contact ProSeries Support so we can take a closer look.
@EarlRob I tried to search back thru my posts about this problem, but the amazingly awful search capabilities that we have did not bring up those posts. I am sad that you brought this up because I have not had in a few years. it was a problem I and others had for a few years, and very random. ProSeries looked into it (they said), and basically said it was a problem on our end.
If I was trying to transfer from 25 to 26, I had to transfer from 24 to 25, then update 25, for 25 additions and deletions to get to my true 25 ending balance.
Truly sucks! Happened one time on my biggest asset # one time. sorry.
Yes, I figured that my only solution was going to have to do a new transfer from 2023 to 2024 and add the additions to 2024 to get the ending balance to transfer to 2025. A curious question, do know if it is a problem with the file or with how the program is reading it; ie, if I have a backup of the client file, can I post it in and allow 2024 to read the data?
I assumed it was with the file, but corrupted in FAM. Especially after I had the problem if various different years, and other FAM users had it also. have not had in a few years, and had basically forgotten that problem, until you brought it up. If I have it now this year,, you are a marked man @EarlRob !! lol lol
