Locking Client Files

After I complete a client, successful efile, and all other aspects of the return are complete, I lock the file.  I've done this since using ProSeries and never had an issue.  This year, its been a challenge and I normally receive this message:

"Lock client operation failed.  An error occurred while saving **bleep** client file"

Normally, if I wait a while (or if I close the program and then restart) it will normally lock...not always though.  Anyone else having this issue?

I never use the locking feature so I can't help you.  This post will bump you back up to the top of the list though so that maybe someone else that does use the feature can see it.

Just happened to me. Exactly as you described.

Have not tried waiting or closing/opening the program.

No problems for me...yet.

I don’t use it either, but some will remember that we fought for that feature to be included for years… especially Archie Leach… the biggest issue was that Intuit had a bad habit of ‘correcting’ tax returns with an ‘update’ after they had been filed…. Hope they didn’t break it…

If at first you don’t succeed…..find a workaround

Hi @GodFather & @mericson,

If you're comfortable with moving folders around, try creating a folder on the desktop and putting a copy of the the file you're trying to lock within that folder along with its cache file. Rename the original file with ".old" and then restore the new file into the program. If this doesn't help, contact support and read them these instructions to help you out! Keep me updated, Thanks!
