When we get a critical error that the balance sheet is off, it's a hassle troubleshooting it and then entering corrections: I wind up looking at printed versions or screen previews of the actual balance sheet in QuickBooks, then have to come back into Proconnect to make adjustments... rinse and repeat. We need a side-by-side full screen view where the balance sheet is on one side, and the input screen is next to it so we can make adjustments easily. You could call this the "Balance Sheet Resolution Wizard" - and anything you can add that would help us resolve the differences would be welcome.Ideally, there would be a "Balance Sheet Difference Monitor" that displays the difference in opening and ending balances as we go - similar to reconciling in QuickBooks. We would make adjustments until it's $0.Another option would simply be direct entry on the corporate return balance sheet, and the 'monitor' would update as we make changes, so we know when we're in balance.
I completely understand that the idiocy of NY State is not Intuit's fault. But you have more clout than we do, so please get NYS Tax to make these changes:Eliminate the prohibition on carrying over driver's license info for taxpayer and spouse. As it is in every other state, Proconnect (all your products) warn us if a license expired and prevents e-filng. The idea we have to re-enter this data for every NY return is ridiculous.Eliminate the NY requirement to re-enter checking routing and account numbers. As with other states, we should only have to enter this if different. No NY Tax Pro I know actually keys it in again. We all copy and paste it - so if it's wrong on the Federal it's wrong on NY.Eliminate the ID requirement on an extension. Who cares? NY can get the ID from us when we do the return. If it's good enough for IRS to take an extension without ID, it should be good for NY. This should be especially true of seasoned NY preparers. I've been preparing returns for 35 years with NY and e-filing since the earliest e-filing days. They know I know my clients.Get rid of the brand new really nutty requirement that we include the driver's license info for a spouse on a Married Separate return. Heck, if they're separated it's not likely that the spouse is rushing to cough up their license. The "did not provide option" won't kill the NY critical error - only marking that the spouse doesn't have a license quiets the error. So they're encouraging a lie when the separated spouse isn't in the mood to share license info. All four of these are absolute time killers. A complete waste. And if NY won't cooperate - who knows with them - then make a default setting that satisfies them on 1 to 3 above, that we can override in preferences. We need this yesterday!!! Thank you!
Please add feature to suppress the Tax ID number on business tax returns.
We need a few enhancements to Pro Intuit Link: We should be able to edit requests without being forced to press the Continue and send the email. Right now, if you don't send it, the edits are lost. A perfect example is a new client coming in with two or three years of returns. I want to add and edit the prior year requests without having to send an email for each year.I've mentioned before that all emails that go out through Pro Intuit Link should be stored and visible. It would also be ideal to be able to connect our email account clients to see messages sent from Pro Intuit Link. It would be ideal to use our mail client and see emails back and forth Pro Intuit Link.
A US person sold a property in India generating a long term capital gain. I should report this transaction in Schedule D, however, there is no way to generate form 1116 from there. We can generate form 1116 from dividend input field, https://accountants.intuit.com/support/en-us/help-article/form-1116/entering-foreign-taxes-paid-generating-form-1116/L9Eu9abmF_US_en_US , but not from capital gain.It is different to do it manually as the line 1a (foreign income) and line 18 (total taxable income) needs adjustments due to that the foreign income is subject to a lower rate. The numeric result is the same if I put the net gain as qualified dividend, but it should be reported in Schedule D with purchase date, sale date, selling expenses, etc. -- Click https://proconnect.intuit.com/community/proconnect-tax-idea-exchange/request-a-case-management-tool-... to vote FOR the idea if you need to report and keep track of Intuit software defects.
it would be really helpful if in the esignature page there was a column that showed if the client has been e-filed!
Client tracker on the individual module to make notes, check how long the client has been in the que, etc. This function was in Lacerte a while back and we use this function all the time when it was available. We've been struggling to find a solution to track our clients, etc since then.
In Pro Series 2023 would be nice to have the option to input Solo 401k and or SEP beginning and ending basis year over year. Just like you would for Traditional IRA which is in the program. Instead I have to create a separate spread sheet and attach it to the tax return for my clients. That is all, thank you.
Taxpayer was deceased in 2022 on a joint return and when converted to 2023, the program does not move the driver license information spouse from category to the correct taxpayer.
As we begin reviewing client submissions in Intuit Link, I'm once again pulling my hair out. Having to click on the status "dot" next to each question and mark it complete is so incredibly tedious and time consuming. PLEASE GIVE US THE ABILITY TO CHANGE THE STATUS OF ALL QUESTIONS AS A BATCH!! Maybe at the bottom of the Questionnaire section?
May we please have a DYMO Label Printer "Add-in" for Lacerte?I would like to print mailing labels to the client, return labels from the client to me, and tax filing labels for the client to mail their return, extension payment, estimate payment, etc.,Please and thank you.
