Efile error 99173

I started getting Efile error code today.  I renewed my Efile after getting this code but still getting it.  It gives Error code 99173 and states 'The transmitter efiler number element is invalid' and Value is Invalid accoding to its datatype token.  Anyone else having this problem?

Hi, 

That message means the entered efile number and/or password are incorrect. Re-enter the efile number and password in  EFILE > options > T1-EFILE internet. Then save the return, close ProFile, reopen ProFile and the error should be gone.

so I have this error right now on my first customer of the year. I tried doing as you said but it didn't work. Any other options.

Experiencing the same problem.  My message says: "RepresentativeID" element is invalid.  Invalid according to its datatype 'Token" - the Pattern constraint failed.

 

I spoke with Intuit support -- they recommended re-entering my Efile code and password -- which didn't do anything.  They then said my EFILE code wasn't long enough, that it should be 7 characters... which I don't believe is correct.  I have the confirmation email from CRA showing that no changes have occured.

 

I spoke with the EFILE help desk too.  They suspected it had something to do with a RepID being needed to EFILE... but that doesn't really make sense either, because I have already done that.

Thank you so much for the reply. I have done all that too so it sounds like it's a cra error that they need to fix. Hope it is soon. If I figure it out in the mean time I will let you know.

I deleted the Efile code, saved and closed Profile.  Then I reopened Profile and entered it again and it worked that time.  Today we started Efiling again and has no problem.  Try it.

I have narrowed the problem down to the T183 Information Return for Electronic Filing.

 

There is a new line item under Part C - Electronic Filer Identification.

CRA sent out an email about 2 months ago indicating that they were going to start asking preparers to associate their RepID to the EFILE transmission session...  It looks like this is where it gets input now...  Because there's a new box for RepID where there was none before.  The individual at the EFILE help desk said that for 2022, we could use TEMP001 if we didn't associate a RepID to the EFILER number.

 

Unfortunately for me... Profile is putting my EFILER number into this box...  I don't know where, under the options panel, to change this.

Go to Options/Environment/Preparer/RepID and enter your RepID.  This should populate the correct line on the T183.

There is one extra step after this.  I had to navigate to the INFO page, right-click and select 'Update Preparer Information' -- otherwise it would not update across the forms (T183, T1013, etc.)
