Refund Question

I have a client who has a 28 yr old son.

The son owes IRS from 2022 and 2023.

Son had $0 Income in 2024 and lived with parents the entire year, providing none of his own support.

If the client claims the son, will their refund be affected because of the son's balance due?

No, the refund shouldn't be affected by the son's debt.  Out of an abundance of curiosity, how much does sonny boy owe the IRS?

    Thanks for the reply.

I told my client the same thing and would ask for a second opinion.

The son owes between $4K and $5K.
