Asset Entry Worksheet program error

For tax year 2019 ProSeries [PS19], I am getting multiple error messages in each return for assets that were entered into ProSeries in previous years.  The entries are Land purchases, with 'Type of asset' coded as 'O' on the Asset Entry Worksheet where 100% of the Asset is Land.  This program issue first surfaced in the summer of 2019 after an update to tax year 2018 ProSeries [PS18].  It took quite some time, but eventually a subsequent update to PS18 fixed the problem.

If there is an update for this problem please explain how to get it.  Otherwise:  In the Asset Entry Worksheet, under Asset Information, increase the Cost or basis by $1, leave the Type of Asset as code 'O', leave the Land $ amount as it is, then enter a depreciation method in for the $1.  Repeat this for every affected Asset, in every return, for the entire filing season.

I request that the PS19 programmers immediately fix this program error that has reappeared from the PS18 summer of 2019 update.

In the 32 years in this business, every tax season staff meeting the first comment is do the calculations, don't trust the software until you have proofed the calculations. 😯 FINALLY the last 2 years have proven the need to do so!  🤐

Allelujah, I think they finally got this one fixed.

Try using .49 which will register as zero.

Thank you for the suggestion linette.  Using 0.49 does not eliminate the PS19 program error, it has to be at least $1 higher.

It is very frustrating that it took Intuit PS months to fix the 2019 summer update error in PS18, and now the very same error is back in PS19.  This is not acceptable.

I agree!  But.....

What can we do about it?

In my opinion, Intuit is totally disrespectful of professionals as their client.   Where I have seen them try to sugar coat their behavior and acknowledge us, I have always felt ignored and unappreciated and yet I spend most of my working hours using and or promoting their products which makes them money.

They are too busy viewing professionals as the competition and then ProSeries is their step-child package.

Hey @The_AntiTax_Man

I know support was looking into this one. I'm following up to see if there's an update. I should have an update by end of day.

Hey @The_AntiTax_Man

I was able to confirm the development team is working on removing this error from the program. I wasn't able to get a specific day yet, but it should be soon. I'll update this thread when I get a time line.

Before the cows come home. Before the rooster roosts for the night. But at least by after lunch in this century!
