I know I am late to the party, but was box 7 removed from form 1099-misc.? Its not on the 1099-misc wks in proseries.

The Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division (TEGE) invites you to join us for a free Zoom awareness meeting on either January 12, 2021 or January 14, 2021.

I know this is old thread, but wonder why
1099MISC is now 1099NEC? and yet when you go in 1099NEC the boxes don't jive with the
form?
No reason posting? Just picking brains, since the Proseries programming is done
so Poorly! and Lines Never Jive with the forms, forms never Jive with the Lines either.
Yes, the IRS had 1099-NEC years and years ago, and they Re-activated it. This removes Box 7 "Nonemployee Compensation" from the 1099-Misc. That means the 1099-Misc for tax year 2020 has a new layout, and box 7 is now a Different purpose..
It's the same concept with the changes to the form 1040 line numbers. They changed over the years.
