What e-file authentification date should a late 2016 California state return have?

Ohh, I see which form youre talking about, where you type in the date they signed the 8879....if its giving you an error for that date, I think you probably just need to update the program.

not sure I understand what an efile authentication date is.....2016 returns can still be Efiled until they shut down the Efiling season in November (I think)

Thanks for reply. It is the page about" Tax Return Signature/Consent to disclose". It will only accept dates of 12/31/2017 or before. what date should I use... I'm thinking 12/31/2017

I'm not familiar with the page you're referring to...does it have a form number or is that for some kind of add on feature or banking product?

It's an E-file authorization form for California State Taxes

The form 8879? Thats printed/signed and kept in your paper files, its not sent with the Efiled return so it wouldn't generate an error.

Im still not sure which form youre referring to, but if youre getting a date error, you may need to update your program.
