Re: 1095-A reject instructions

I’m running into a persistent rejection issue in Intuit ProSeries Professional and would really appreciate any guidance.

I have a 23-year-old client who was covered under her parents’ Marketplace health insurance plan for 2025. Her return keeps getting rejected with a message indicating a missing Form 1095-A.

The parents received two separate Forms 1095-A:

  • One covering January–February 2025
  • One covering March–December 2025

However, my client’s specific coverage under the policy began in April 2025.

I have already entered both 1095-A forms and completed the shared policy allocation. On the daughter’s return, I allocated 0% to her, as the parents are taking 100%.

Despite this, the return continues to reject for a missing 1095-A.

Has anyone encountered this issue before or know what might be causing the rejection? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I am sure my client did not have marketplace insurance. They have the same 1095-C for several years marked all year from their employer.  Still getting rejected when box is checked stating no marketplace insurance.

Is the 23 year old being claimed as a dependent on the parents tax return?

If not I would open the form 1095-A and check the box not covered under a 1095-A. Obviously she was on the 1095-A that the parents are sending in. Make sure to print off that 1095-A stating not covered and attach it to the tax return.

Are you saying that your client was NOT "covered" on the first 1095-A?  If that is the case, you don't enter that one.

As the other comments said, if your client is NOT a dependent, you need to attach a PDF to the return categorized as "ACA Explanation".  I would print the 8962 showing the 0% allocation and use that as the attachment.
