Program crashing

My ProSeries Basic program crashes about twice a week. There is a solution posted (delete the contents of the Update folder) but any idea why this keeps happening?

I use Professional.  I always keep last year and this year open.  Every day prior year PS automatically closes, at random times.  A pain but not stopping me from working on current year.
