NY / CT not crediting

TP lived 6 months NY, 6 months CT. Earned $500k. W2 has $500 K in NY state box 16, and NY tax withheld in box 17. Box 16 also has 200 k with the words "CT lived in only", no CT withholdings. My thinking is enter part-year resident in each state and CT claim credit for taxes paid in NY. But form Res Sch 2 WKS (NY) in the CT (to get the credit from NY) is not populating. I have used this form before for CT resident and NY non resident with all income in NY and it works fine.

I can enter CT non-resident, treat all income as NY sourced (which it is) and but have to enter part-time resident in NY to get a larger credit from NY.

Any thoughts on how to claim the proportianal credit in NY, or any other ideas would be much appreciated.

credit only works for full year resident - full year non resident.

part year NY and part year CT no resident credit.  You are a resident of each state for that portion of the year. You split the income to what was earned in each state.
