Logistical Question - Filing Joint or Separate
Couple on the outs but qualify to file jointly. Separately he owes large. Final decision on to file joint or separate may not be made by deadline. If extension is filed joint but they end up filing separately, or if extension if filed separately but they end up filing joint - other than a phone call to the IRS down the road how can we avoid the inevitable IRS notice of missing payments?
