Hello,

The client already filed her return and has received a refund. Now she wants to open an IRA. Is it possible to file an amended return to include the IRA contribution?

Transaction must be completed by April 15. (Just like if she had claimed it on the original return.)

Make sure the broker (or whatever) remembers to mark it as "2021". You will want a copy of the receipt or other paperwork for your file, and may want to consider attaching it to the amended return.

Should be, as long as it is completed by the original due date of the return.

Oh Goody - You get to charge another fee for the amended return!!!

original due date of the return.  Did you mean an amended return must be filed before april 15?

But next year you might want to ask that IRA contribution question before you file the client’s return.
