Form 1310 solution when form not needed
I’ve seen lots of posts over the years about form 1310. I FINALLY got it figured out today!
This is for the times you don’t need form 1310. This would be when you have a court appointed person, but it isn’t an amended return, etc. When filing without the form, people often get rejected returns.
You won’t use form 1310, but you will attach a PDF of the court documents. For that to actually work, you need to make the description say “Personal Representative Court Certificate” and you will choose “Form 1310” as File Type even though it isn’t actually that form.
Anyway, I hope this helps someone. I was getting the reject notice even with the pdf attached, but I didn’t realize that it needed a specific description, and I had file type listed as “other.” Once I noticed the verbiage in the rejection explanation, I was able to get the return to be accepted.
