Error Messsage on E-Filed return

Spouse SSN and Spouse Name Control in the return must match the e-file database.

I rechecked the name and SSN had the client call Social Security office to validate the accuracy of his name and SSN. I resubmitted the return and got the same error code R0000-503-02. Contacting IRS is a bear... Any suggestions as to why the reject?

Do you have a copy of the prior filed return? Does the information match. Have the client register on the IRS website and check the information there.

do they have multiple middle or last names? IRS may have the wrong name as "last".

The name used on the tax return matches the name on Economic Impact Payment letter received.
