My staff erroneously electronically submitted a return. Is there a way to retrieve it since the acknowledge shows received by Intuit?

Unfortunately no.

    Always leave an error on the return until right before you Efile it ( the Efile PIN should be blank until you have signatures in your possession and are allowed to Efile it)  you can never accidentally Efile with blank Efile PIN
