Federal MFJ return filed and accepted by Federal. Then filed PA and MD returns MFS successfully but return has been sitting in pending and not accepted by state for well over a week. Why?

Probably has something to do with your statement that you filed the federal return as married filing joint and then filed two State returns married filing separate , but I am not sure... Pennsylvania usually takes longer to approve than Federal but not that long... just my opinion... hope this helps
