can one take child care credit while collecting unemployment insurance, if they were looking for work?

theoretically, but Ive never been able to figure out how to make it happen...doubtful anyone on UI in 2020 was out looking for work anyhow.

You hit the nail on the head Lisa... Some of them probably made more money on unemployment than they did when they worked, therefore they had little "incentive" to actually try to find a job... just my opinion

Did your client pay for child care at that time?

Have you used the IRS resources?

"You may be able to claim the child and dependent care credit if you paid expenses for the care of a qualifying individual to enable you (and your spouse, if filing a joint return) to work or actively look for work."
