Question

CE Credits

When I was registering for my PTIN, I notice under the CE Credits that there was a line at the end saying Qualified Retirement Plan Matters.  Am I suppose to take courses on that also and if so, how many credits do I need?  Thank you.

The amount of credits you need depend on what you are trying to accomplish

EAs aren’t required to obtain CE credits for Qualified Retirement Plan Matters.  https://www.irs.gov/tax-professionals/enrolled-agents/maintain-your-enrolled-agent-status

As @jenks said you don’t need CE credits on Qualified Retirement Plan Matters.

Qualified Retirement Plan Matters is a separate IRS continuing-education category (program code Q), and enrolled agents are not required to complete any of it. Under Circular 230 Section 10.6(f)(1), an enrolled agent's hours must enhance professional knowledge in Federal taxation or Federal tax related matters; qualified retirement plan matters is the category that earns credit for an Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent (ERPA), a separate credential with its own renewal cycle.
