Facts:

(1) Wife filed (MFS) 2020 return already.  Return accepted, refund received.  No apparent error in the return.

(2) Husband has not yet filed.

(3) They now want to file joint.

What is proper process to accomplish the final goal of a joint return?

Amend hers to include the husbands info and change to MFJ...you wont be able to Efile the amendment though, Filing status changes are one of the few things that are disallowed for Efiling a 1040X..

Must have.  Or maybe she wanted a check with just her name on it.  Second marriage for both of them, so who knows what the deal is.
