It does work. If it seems like the program quit working, you might need to use Alt + Tab to see the proper window.
For me it works more smoothly from the client list. Highlight the client > Import > Schedule D.
You are referring to other method of schedule D import. I'm referring to direct import "import client data from online accounts now". In all cases I receive a message that the information is not available from the investment company, when in fact I know that the information is available.
This method of import has worked in past years but this year it does not.
