Question

PTIN Renewal Error Code 6000

I was trying to renew my PTIN with the IRS.  After going through the identity verification from ID.ME and returning to the IRS PTIN page, it gave me a error message and it reads as follows:

Something Went  Wrong

A Security condition is preventing you from accessing this IRS online service. You won’t be able to use this online service at this time. Select “Let us help you” to find other options for completing your transaction.

Error code: 6000

TID: 405d4f14-ec0041-fc-a4dd-f23cd84ee77e5

I have searched online and  found that it was a security block that the IRS has placed on my account. I can only call  the IRS phone number 1-800-830-5084. But when I called such phone number,  it was for the “taxpayer identity protection program”. And no matter when I called, the message always ended with “Due to high call volume, we are not able to assist you at this time. Please try to call again on the next business day”.

So I would like to ask if anyone might have similar experience or know other alternatives to resolve  this security block.  The ultimate goal of course is renew my PTIN for next tax year’s tax season and have access to my PTIN and Tax Pro accounts.

Thank you.
