Lacerte Database Problems

Our individual database has replaced client names and SSN's in various clients tax files with other clients names and SSNs. This happened to us last year and Lacerte was able to fix the database to prevent this from happening. This morning after being on the phone for an hour with tech support I was told there is nothing they can do and that they are not allowed to escalate issues anymore. We've been with Lacerte for 30+ years and this will be the last.

Sadly Lacerte has been on a slow, downward trajectory since Intuit (a company that focus on b.s. sales, versus strong technical issues) took over a few years back.  I miss the old Lacerte.

Totally agree.  If I wasn't so close to retirement, I would dump Intuit.  I let every new person entering the profession what a horrible company Intuit is.  I suggest that they use any software other than Intuit.  It is just sad.  I use EasyAcct accounting software which is an Intuit product.  They had a disastrous upgrade starting in November 2025.  It put us at least two weeks behind filing W-2s and quarterly payroll tax returns.  Which means we started tax season behind.  We normally have a couple of updates to the accounting program in January for final form issues.  We are now on update ELEVEN!!

I think this is the final straw. Unless my rep offers us a smoking deal, Ultratax here we come.

I had this problem as well in April.  One of my tax return clients (last name starting with A) social security numbers changed to a completely unrelated client (last name starting with W).  I am a sole practitioner who has used Lacerte for 30+ years as well. I called Lacerte and the rep just kept saying look at your client log, look at your client log. I said sir, my client log does not show a change in that data and I am not in the business of changing socials during tax prep.  He just kept saying there was nothing he could do and I must have made the change and to look at the client log. I have never been so angry in my life.  I have had multiple line corruptions since migrating to Rightnetworks and the Schedule D import works only half the time. Prices keep rising to boot.  Have a call with an Ultratax Rep after 10/15.
