e-file: Short period returns cannot be filed electronically except for short period final returns or initial returns. I have a short period return due to a change in accounting period. If I de-select to e-file the diagnostic requires IRS approval of a waiver. IRS will not grant the waiver until I have an e-file rejection code......... Go to Screen 4.1, Miscellaneous Information (990-N, 990, 990-PF, 990-T), Within the Tax Year Information section, dates should not be entered in Beginning fiscal year date [O] or Ending fiscal year date [O] if it is not a short tax year.
