For solution, it says e-file must be the current year or future year. I am getting this diagnostic while trying to efile a 2019 tax return for someone who died in 2021. 2021 is a future year as compared to 2019. Why won't this work? Why do I instead get a diagnostic that the date of death must equal either 2019 or 2020?

Have the same problem.

In light of the tremendous processing failures related to paper tax returns (caused by the pandemic) it is crucial CREWSHUL to have e-filing ability.

It may be an IRS rule rather than a Lacerte issue.

The more I know the more I don’t know.
