I have the same question.  This diagnostic doesn't make any sense.  We're supposed to attach the Hawaii K-1s to the Hawaii return?  Aren't all K-1s sent when we efile?

I went ahead and attached the K1's all in one file as more than one created a diagnostic that a paper return would be needed.  Clicked the box for HI only, and the referenced form line or instruction is Partners share of income credits deductions.

I add a second attachment due to rental income on form 8825 for HI.  With reference to Form line or instruction:  Rental RealEstated income and expenses of a ptr 8825.

Both do not make logical sense, I thought it better to attach them.  It can do no harm and it may prevent a notice down the line.   

If anyone can reference the Hawaii instruction that refers to attaching pdf copies of forms that are included in the efiled tax return, please share.  

Did anyone find a solid answer or are we all just guessing on this?

I think the diagnostic is incorrect.  The instructions don't say to attach extra K-1s.

Is there a solution to this diagnostic?  I can't get it to go away no matter what I do.  

I've just been attaching the K-1s and selecting the appropriate Hawaii line description.  When I asked support why it wasn't automatically done, they told me it is a new requirement.  Hopefully the program will automatically do it next year.

I agree this diagnostic makes no sense.  The Hawaii K-1s are included with the return.  I'm just going to override it since it's not critical.  I tried attaching a K-1 and the diagnostics was still there.

Absolute worst case...  have you tried suppressing the error-checking for this one file, and then Ctrl+U(batch for Upload) prepping it to send?

I figured out how to get rid of the diagnostic.  When you attach the K-1 as a PDF, you have to select under the Hawaii PDF attachment information "Partner's share of Income, credits, ..." under the Form line or instruction reference.  Once I selected this the diagnostic went away.
