Live payroll

I am a new user. There is not a lot out there on how to enter live payroll, and I need all the help I can get.  Can anyone lead me in the right direction?  I think I have it set up correctly, but I wanted to do some trial runs to make sure that I knew how to do it before I have to do the real thing.
