I've been using ProSeries on standalone computer for several years. Last year I downloaded ProSeries 2023 software without any issues on the same computer I am trying to download the 2024 software. I keep getting the message that ProSeries can't be installed on this computer because the computer system is not at least windows 10. I had previously been on Windows 10 Home, so I downloaded Windows 10 Pro to see if that would resolve the issue, but it did not. ProSeries tech said it was problem with my computer, however I have not had any issues elsewhere. I was able to download and upgrade to Windown 10 Pro without any issues and all my other applications requiring internet services are working fine. Any suggestions? Thank you.
Sadly, you'll probably need to call tech support, but first be sure youve installed all Windows updates and restarted the computer since the update happened. And you need Win10 64bit, not the older 32bit version, so that may be something to check..
Heres the link to the system requirements, make sure you meet the minimums
Thank you for the quick response. I have check my system against what is required and everything shows more that what is required. I have a Dell Inspiron 24-5459 with Intel CPU @ 2.80 GHz; 12.0 GB RAM, 64-bit operating system and 707 GB free hard disk space and Windows 10 Pro installed. I spoke to ProSeries tech support and they could not resolve; just kept saying it's a problem with my computer.
I feel like Ive seen others with this same issue, let me see if I can find an engineer to tag for this.
Much appreciated. The CoreInstallerTY24.exe file will download to my computer, but I cannot get the application to launch and install the software.
Ive posted this in an area where employees have access, hopefully someone can tell me who to tag for this. It is holiday time, might be a few days,
@dpmaupincpa if you are aware of windows registry, can you let me know what exactly it is showing in registry value at
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion => ProductName
You can search for registry editor in windows search.
Here is what my computer shows at Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion => ProductName:
ProductName REG_SZ Windows 10 Pro
Thank you, ramky1.
@dpmaupincpa Can you try creating empty file in C:\ drive with name C:\ProSeriesPrereqBypass.txt
e.g., C:\ProSeriesPrereqBypass.txt and try installing again.
When I tried to create the .txt file in C:\ drive I received the following message:
C:\ProSeriesPrereqBypass.txt
You don't have permission to save in this location.
Contact the administrator to obtain permission.
But, I am the administrator.
You want to make sure you have a full OEM licensed version of windows 10 PRO, and not a partial copy.
Run or paste this command and hit Enter:
slmgr.vbs /dlv
On the resulting dialog, under Name you will see the Edition of Windows 10 and under Description, you will see if that is a genuine Retail license, an OEM license or a Volume license. You don't want a volume copy.
When I ran the command, I received the following information (partial list):
Software licensing service version: 10.0.19041.5247
Name: Windows(R), Professional edition
Description: Windows(R) Operating System, RETAIL channel
There was a lot more information listed. Hopefully, this is all you were asking for.
Thank you.
You have a good copy of Windows 10 Pro. See this link to make sure your computer meets minimum requirements for 2024.
My Computer:
Computer processor: Intel Core i7, with 2.80 GHz
RAM: 12.0 GB
Free hard drive space: 706 GB
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Internet connection: Optimum High-speed
Browser: Latest versions of Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge installed
My computer meets all the recommended requirements for ProSeries 2024.
Have you downloaded the recommended file "Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8" Go to the above link in my earlier answer to download
I tried downloading Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8, but I got a message that .NET Framework 4.8 or a later update is already installed on my computer.
I have had the same issue....., The support from Intuit told me that I have to update Microsoft 24H2 to the new Oct 24 updates - this update caused endless problems. Many people have had issues with updates causing internet, gaming, and other hiccups. I ended up spending 36 with 8 Microsoft chat supports; each one started from restore, and each restart takes you to the new person, then here we go again, a circular motion. Update stuck at 14% then again on 46% hours on end.
I finally got elevated to a tech guy who did not ghost on me when I said update issues with 24H2, he said that my C drive operation system D... folder something (can't remember) was 100% full so it would not allow any program updates. It has over 700k files from all the calls, and nobody cleaned it up. Surprisingly one drive also used a lot of memory. The cleanup took another 2 hours, and the update still stuck at 46%, so I reached back again to chat, this one started to restore even after I said "Please do not recreate the restore point and restart, I have had 7 so far the program is clean,,,," so I close the chat. It's Xmas eve and I was ready to buy a new PC from Costco, Just wanted to give it the shot at the last minute, this time my Proseries went through.
I feel that Proseries's error message was wrong, the support should not recommend us to update 24H2 - A Big no no.... I was forced to pay upgrade for hotmail even though my Outlook has plenty of storage left. I was going to upgrade like you did because mine was 2019 student, but it was not necessary in the end.
My thought after 36 hours with Microsoft chat service is that perhaps Microsoft updates clocked in so many files that we never dare to clean up without guidance from tech support, This over the years is blocking the C drive, it looks like Proseries is reading the old updates info (Microsoft 10 -2016 for mine) but not the new updates in our system (we both have Microsoft 11). I don't know why but installing 24H2 updates get you nowhere. Proseries also gave me a few more error messages like Quickbook and/or Proseries 23 is on,- but it's not. However, it is doing something in the task manager; so I have to go to task manager to disable the app, I am blocking all Microsoft updates from now on until the end of the season.
So mine is fixed on Xmas even at 6 pm - for now.... I hope Proseries is not going to give us any more trouble with future updates.
Wish you luck.
Charmin
I'm on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, which is acceptable for ProSeries. I've also check my computer for all the other ProSeries requirements (CPU, RAM, hard drive space, etc.) and my computer meets or exceeds the recommended requirements of ProSeries. So, I'm at a loss at to know what to do next. I'm able to download the ProSeries CoreInstallerTY24.exe file to my computer, but cannot get the software to install on my computer when running the exe file. Hopefully, ProSeries/Intuit has a solution to this issue I'm having.
Did you let the software use default locations or did you change the default ? I have always used default, and have heard of quite a few problems over the years from people that change the default. I can't think of any other solution, so you will have to depend on support.
Yes, I always use the default directory location. Thus far, since Monday, I have:
Try enabling administrator account.
Enable Administrator Account
1. Press Windows + R keys to open Run.
2. Type lusrmgr.msc in the dialog box and press Enter.
3. Double click on Users, and double click on Administrator.
4. Remove the checkmark "Account is disabled".
BTY My above-mentioned C drive folder (DD... something)is not the regular folder that we can see, I think (?) only Microsoft 2nd-level tech guys are allowed to have access to this operating program and update folder in the C drive because he took me to somewhere that’s unfamiliar to me. All of my other folders were fine except for this particular folder reaching 100% capacity from various updates. After 2 hours of cleanup, all of my prior update files were gone - even Microsoft 10 update files. Fortunately, I was able to download Proseries 24 without updating Microsoft 24H2. My computer is stuck at 46% for 24H2 so I cancel the updates and block all future updates from Microsoft.
Thank you for your replies, Charminwu and Terry53029. I tried doing all that has been suggested, the latest being removing the checkmark "Account is disabled" by running lusrmgr.msc. Restarted the computer and tried to download ProSeries 2024 both from MyAccount and from ProSeries 2023 without success. When trying to download next year's ProSeries from ProSeries 2023 I get the message that "The download has been completed previously. ProSeries will now install your ProSeries product for Tax Year 2024", I click OK, I am then asked "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?", I click "Yes" to run the Self-Extractor, I see ProSeries acting as if it is installing and process proceeds to 100% after showing Ready to install ProSeries, then nothing happens except ProSeries 2023 is closed out. So, thus far I have:
I will probably clean caches and cookies, all temp files, recycle bin, and double check your Onedrive to see how much capacity it's using, however, I will leave all the updated files and old Microsoft programs for the tech guy to clean up space.
