Issues efiling NC individual returns?

I am getting the following error in Proconnect when trying to submit returns for a NC client:

"E-file Transmission Failure

Tax Year 2025 transmissions are not available. ProConnect Tax Online is not ready to process Tax Year 2025 for this return. Problem occurred transmitting efile data"

Any indications on what the issue may be?

This Intuit article says NC efile to open "TBD"

https://accountants.intuit.com/support/en-us/help-article/electronic-filing/2023-proconnect-tax-tax-...

but NCDOR website says efile opened 1/26.

@cosgrove08 Thanks for being here on the Community! If this is still an issue we would recommend contacting ProConnect Support for further assistance.

I am having the same issue. Did you figure out what is it? I cannot submit any returns. I contacts support, their only suggestion was to file only federal and circle back to file the state. That is a real inconvenience for everyone.

Anybody have any real suggestions?

Same issue here - it has only happened when I had this one NC return.

I would hate to only file Federal and then file NC later.

Totally agree. I was having the same issue with my GA returns as well. I was able to submit the GA returns today. Still not able to submit the NC returns.

It is still happening for me and I have honestly not had a chance to check in with support. Have any of you done that and gotten a response?  When I saw they had NC listed as "TBD" in their article that seems to be updated daily, I figured it is probably something on Proconnect's end...  I don't think the issue is with NC...I hope it is cleared soon because I am a NC firm, so I kind of need NC to work. I'm having the same issue for 1040s and business clients.

I still cannot e-file tax returns with the state of North Carolina. I continue to receive the following error message:

"Some agencies aren't accepting returns to be e-filed. Check your agencies status before e-filing."

I see that NC can e-file as of 2/9/2026 and when I go to file North Carolina is 'grayed' out. I've had to file some Federal returns without NC and was hoping that it would be resolved soon. How do I go about correcting this issue?

Hey CountMein, I would check in with support, because I have been able to efile NC for both individuals and businesses for a few days now!  So it may be something they can help you with?

Update: Just letting you all know this is working for me as of 2/10 🙂 If anyone comes here for this issue, I don't think your issue is the same that I was having.
