Question

Access Violation

I’ve been getting plenty of the “Access Violation at address….” messages recently, especially while working on older tax returns (2012-2017). Because of those pop-up messages, I was unable to save some returns and had to use CTRL+ALT+DELETE to close Profile. Today I was having plenty of such messages when I was working on T2 returns. I called Profile technical support, the technician took control of my computer and ran Proreg to fix this problem.

Unfortunately, just a few hours later, while working on current year’s T1 and T2 returns, I kept getting MORE “Access Violation” pop-up messages than before the repair.

I know this is a rather perennial problem for me and for some other Profile users. Is there a way to get rid of this very annoying issue once and for all? That would be fantastic!

Hi, thank you for using Intuit ProFile Community

Proreg is the first step to resolve the access violation issues. You could try a repair or a clean uninstall . If you need  agent assistance call us at 1-800-452-9970

I apologize for the inconvenience but hope this helps

Last year, just before the beginning of the 2019  tax season, I purchased a new, top-of-the-line Dell Computer (SSD, extra HD, plenty of RAM, Windows Professional). It's extremely fast and reliable. Yet last year I had the same problems with Profile that I had experienced in the previous year, and I've already had many problems this tax season (Access Violation, F5 key not switching to the other spouse, two same returns opening at the same time and other issues). My very strong conclusion is the same-it's Profile's issue, not the computer's.
