I understand that there is a delay with NYS for being e-file ready. Can't you allow me to at least print the
NYS return so that i can provide it to the client? I now have a backlog of returns that i will have to go back and print in addition to sorting out the e-file. Now that the availability date has been pushed back to 2/5, that is too many days and too much extra work! Regards, Stephan Z
I am also having the same issue. Pro Series Professional isn't even allowing me to print the NYS return to give the client a complete set.
Why are NYS forms not ready until 2/5/2026?
This is total ridiculous. The forms are ready to efile but we can not print them. Lets your act together Intuit. I have clients that want to file their returns but since we can not print them yet the can not review the returns. What good is efileing if we can not print.
The date keeps moving out for NYS was Jan 26 then 29, 31 and now Feb 5.
I used ProSeries for many many years i.e. greater then 25 to do both personal and business returns but about 5 years ago I migrated all of the business returns to Drake because ProSeries prices were getting ridiculous. Since I purchase the complete Drake package each year (which is way less than ProSeries wants for just the 1065/1120 package) I tried a couple of personal returns on it for clients who are in a hurry to get their returns filed bcause they are leaving for warmer climates. I got them e-filed on the 26th with absolutely no problems. Needless to say this is my last year for ProSeries. And, I am now starting to use Drake accounting this year so goodbye Quickbooks also..
Yeah. This is BS. I wonder if turbotax can effile NY? Have to keep rescheduling clients and some are going else where. This is unbelievable.... Costing me clients and money by these delays.
Was it easy to migrate all client's info to Drake? I also heard Tax Act was very good.
It was not bad when I migrated all of my business returns a few years ago. The Drake program highlights the items that need to be checked/verified so it was just a matter of taking care of that. I have done about 10 personal returns this year because the clients were in a hurry and it worked fine, but these were simple returns I am going to do the mass migration during the summer. I am actually going to migrate some of my more involved returns from 2024 to 2025 and redo the 2025 on Drake to make sure I get all the little nuances and input kinks worked out during the summer months.
Are we sure it's not New York State that has not approved their own program? I looked on the web and ProSeries is a qualified provider!
I believe it's on NYS's end of it...
I spoke to an accountant that uses TaxAct. She has filed over 26 returns already, came back acknowledged. This problem seems to be that we just can't print NYS at all.
I think we can efile, but without a copy for the client to review, that would be a bad idea.
It's not. This is within Pro Series and they certainly charge us a lot of money to have a glitch like this. This has to do with form TR-579 which hasn't changed in years. I can't see a reason for this hold up.
I am completely backed up now, and I will have to do a ton of work to figure all this out when they are finally ready to let us print.
Tax Act is also
ProConnect, another Intuit product, is able to print and e-file NY returns. Not sure where the disconnect is. It makes me think ProSeries is at the bottom of their pecking order.
I just called and complained again. They still insist it's NYS that's holding things up. There is literally no work about on this. We simply can't print NYS at all.
I think everyone should take a few minutes and call and complain to Intuit about this. Squeaky wheels might get heard.
BTW, it seems to be just NY. I scanned through forms availability and looks like most if not all other states were finalized.
what's the number you called? I tried and couldn't find anyone to talk to.
The more I ponder this situation I get more upset BUT I wonder if this is Intuit's way for pushing customers to go to the online ProConnect. They have got rid of desktop Quickbooks thereby forcing customers to use the online version which is a virtual POS and it looks like they are trying to do the same thing with ProSeries now. There was a comment on here stating that the ProConnect product is allowing return printing and e-filing.
The NYS Department of Taxation and Finance has a web page showing what software is approved. Some programs (like TaxAct and Drake) are approved for 2025. Others are not:
https://www.tax.ny.gov/pit/efile/homepc.htm
So when Intuit says "the problem is with NYS," what they mean is "the problem is that NYS has not yet approved our software, and either we don't know why or we aren't going to tell you."
I found a work-around. A bit cumbersome, but in a pinch this might help.
Print federal only, then go to NY and print just IT-201 and then print each schedule till you print out everything you will e-file.
For the TR-579, print the prior year out, cross out all 2024 info, hand write in 2025 info for client to sign.
This will work if client in in front of you to sign.
E-filing is ok, it's the printing of the state return that's the problem, as far as I can see.
I e-filed one return this way and so far NYS has received it, but hasn't acknowledged it yet, but they usually take a few days. The IRS already accepted the return.
Good luck, everyone.
BTW, there is a problem with non-cash contributions not generating form 8283 if non-cash totals are over $500 in the aggregate. However, if you have a donation of more than $500 to one organization, the form will print.
Are we having fun yet?
Been trying to do a work around for NYS all day. Cannot print IT-2 for them and what we can print still has the watermark (Do not mail efile only)
I am printing all the forms with the exception of the IT-2 since what I am printing is for the client copy only. I have also gone to the NYS website, downloaded the TR 579-IT to editable PDF, and then entering the information so I can print it for the client to sign. I know the forms are watermarked but since I am only using them for the client copy I doubt it matters. The one form that I can not print that I need are the NYS Estimated Payment vouchers and I am not about to take the time to do them online manually. Those returns will just have to wait until someone gets off their oversized butt and get the program working.
I notice that Intuit Lacerte has not been approved by NY for 2025.
