Once again Proseries has programmed errors that do not allow you to submit a corporate extension unless you disclose the number of employees. It is an extension, it is not required and Intuit has programmed errors unless this information is completed. I am filing over 55 corporate extensions I do not have W-3 information. Number employees is not a requirement by the IRS in order to file an extension, the information is not transmitted to the best of my knowledge. Again, this product is sold/licensed as a professional product but a professional is precluded from doing their job efficiently.
This is not the first time, some stupid manager programmed errors in order to file an extension. Management better get their act together to provide a product professional can use. Otherwise, no there little reason for us to use it.
On a separate topic, I called three times on a K-3/K-2 issue sent sanitized files, have a case under investigation but so far I have heard nothing. I have been complaining about the k-3/k-2 errors for several years and Intuit has failed to correct the problem. Maybe management might consider scrapping have the errors since most are not errors and if we have tax preparers who do not have the quality control or knowledge to prepare returns, such is life!! It would dramatically stream line the process for the rest of us.
I was grumbling about that earlier this evening.
Error - complete information worksheet which means make up meaningless W-2 numbers.
Do that and then a couple returns say enter last year income which there isn’t any.
Then of course, open up the state return.
It’s just a complete waste of time and effort for something that should only require checking a couple of boxes. My suggestion is to fire the “team” that came up with this moronic system. This has been brought up in prior years and they keep on doing it.
I tried to uncheck the box for efiling the corp return and only check the box for the efile the extension of the info worksheet. Then you can submit an extension with no employee data. What a joke!! Poor programming.
I forgot about that route from last year.
