Waiting for S-Corp Election Approval

I filed an S-Corp election before 03/15/21 deadline. Do you need to wait for IRS approval before running owner's 1st payroll?

I don't know if this is proper but I did not wait for my client.   Client setup LLC, he had me do an S-Election.  I've been doing payroll since January.
