At least if I am lost in the woods, I can pull out a compass and find my way back home.  Once I come back to this string, I pack food because it could be a couple of days before I find my way back home.  

And for the record, this new forum doesn’t just suck, it really, really, really sucks!

Thanks for asking about the subscriptions. The "Add topics to subscriptions" setting controls automatic subscriptions when replying to a topic. At this time, there isn't a way to completely prevent automatic subscriptions from other types of interactions.

Actions such as voting, liking, or commenting may still automatically subscribe you to a topic so you can receive updates on discussions you've engaged with, even if that setting is turned off. 

If you'd like to stop receiving notifications for a specific topic, you can unsubscribe by:

1. Go to your Avatar upper-right. 
2. Select Subscriptions.
3. Opening the topic.
4. Clicking the unfollow on the post.

Please note that if you later interact with that same topic again (for example, by voting, liking, or commenting), you might be re-subscribed and will begin receiving notifications for that topic again.
