upon entering stock transactions, the following message is displayed:

"Cost or adjusted basis (positive or negative amounts only) is not between the prescribed upper and lower limits. not sure what this message means

Are you entering an 8 digit figure? Something weird is happening in the Quick entry table with 8 digit numbers, it will take 7 or 9, but apparently 8 digits makes an error. Try breaking the transaction up into smaller amounts to work around this.
