Preparing separate state returns for MFJ filers

MFJ filers - husband lived part year in NC and part year in VA -- how to file separate VA returns for them?

    Wife all year in VA -- 

    Spouse moved from NC to VA (had W2 earnings in both states)

    They got married in 2019 so first year they are filing together.

    I am thinking I will file federal jointly and then I will have to file two Virginia returns, one for each of them?
