If the taxpayer is in L-1 status and lives in US, but his wife lives in China, can he files single in US?

Also, can he files married filing joined if he gets the ITIN for his wife? Does her wife's income in China included in the joined return?

He can't file single because he is married. The Us recognizes marriages that are legal in other countries. They can file jointly if wife gets an ITIN and she consents to be taxed in the US on her worldwide income.

The more I know the more I don’t know.
