File > Save As.

Name new file something different.

After you save as a new name, be sure to activate the 1040X and the state form before entering any changes... you didn't ask this part, but sharing as I have wasted some time in the past and had to restart because I didn't start by activating the amendment forms first.

If youre going to use Save As, make that copy the original.  Name it Jones8897original.25i or something to that effect, then be sure to uncheck the EF boxes on it, or you'll get a duplicate SSN message.

Once youve saved it, go back to the original file (Jones8897.25i) and amend it.

That way your amended return (the one with the correct figures on it) uses the originally named file that you can transfer it to 2026 next year without it having a weird file name.

proseries instructions say to do a save as original on the original return. Then do the amended on the old first return - there are instructions - just make sure however you call the files you end up with 2. original and amended
